Velvet Trends

Velvet is definitely a fun and lavish way to dress up your outfits this winter, especially for the holidays. It is a very versatile fabric. It can be your only main focus or be mixed and matched with a variety of accessories. Due to its luxe fabric, it’s the perfect cocktail dress for this season. Add some tights to this dress, some pretty pumps and you’re ready to sip on cosmos all night! Be even more courageous and take ideas from the designers themselves, add some metallic or other type of flashy belt, leather gloves, knit caps, or maybe lacy tights, and this is a fabulous night time, holiday look!

For an instant lift, a classic velvet blazer is timelessly versatile.

Don’t just focus on black velvet either; jewel colors are the sensation right now on the runway. Look to this season’s freshest runway colors like: grape, berry, teal or sapphire.

InStyle shows us various ways to wear your velvet. This particluar dress, by Vince, is featured at Saks Fifth Avenue for $325.

If you’re not interested in draping your whole body in velvet, grab some velvet accessories instead, to add that richness to your look. Forever21 has some great pieces and all are of course so affordable, yet super cute. I actually purchased the featured leggings for only $11.80 and they are super comfortable, yet love how they add a unique flare to the outfit. I ended pairing them with a long sleeve denim button up, and white t-shirt, and with the blue suede pumps, "I liked my outfit" that day!
